Our teaching methods focus on developing the whole musician. Our methods incorporate kinesthetic movement, as well as visual and aural activities to cater for all styles of learning.
We aim to deliver lessons in a fun and exciting manner, while developing all the essential musical foundations of beat, rhythm, music reading and aural skills.
Did you know it takes 2-3 years to properly prepare a students for their very first AMEB Preliminary exam? That’s why we use the Encore curriculum – to provide the best (and very necessary) foundations to our students, before they sit their exams.
The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) offers both practical and theoretical exams throughout the year. They are located in Ashgrove, just five minutes from Young Musicians’ Academy.
For more information about AMEB exams, visit http://ameb.qld.edu.au or just email our team at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are happy to answer any of your questions.
Books & Materials
At YMA, we use the Encore Music Education curriculum and publications.
These award-winning Australian publications are contemporary and fun, and our students just love them! Mark Gibson and his team have done a wonderful job with their series.
Students learn all the foundational aspects of music (beat, rhythm, music reading, aural skills, musical styles) while playing along to backing tracks with varying musical styles.
