Music to your ears: Immersive piano classes at the Young Musicians’ Academy that improve your skills, creativity and confidence.
Learning an instrument can be a great fun and also has many benefits. From teaching you perseverance and coordination to increasing mathematical abilities and reading comprehension skills, there are many great reasons to learn music!
What You Will Learn
You will learn all the necessary musical foundations of beat and rhythm, aural and listening skills, along with music theory and sight reading (that’s learning to play by reading the music notes!)
It’s really important to have a solid foundation, so that in a few years time you will be able to pick up a sheet of music and play it, or listen to a song on the radio and work out the tune for yourself!
How Our Piano Lessons are Different
Do you have memories of sitting at the piano and getting your hand smacked by a ruler when you played the wrong note?
You’ll be glad to know that those days are long gone! At Young Musicians Academy, all our teachers are passionate about teaching, and we have an emphasis on making lessons fun and enjoyable for all students.
Our lessons incorporate backing track CDs, movement, getting up and dancing around the room – perfect for 4-7 year olds (and fun for bigger kids too)!
Who is it Ideal For?
We have lessons and courses designed specifically for different age groups. If you are interested in learning the piano, we have:
Our other instrumental lessons such as guitar, singing, percussion and other instrumental lessons are ideal for students aged 7 and above. Some instruments can be harder to play than others, and therefore need to be assessed on an individual level.
If your child is interested in playing an instrument but you aren’t sure if they are of the right age, click here and we will organise a free assessment for you.
What are The Benefits for You?
Learning an instrument can be a great fun and also has many benefits including….
- It’s great fun in solo or with your friends
- It’s a skill you can show off to your friends and family
- Helps you with your academic abilities
- Increases your mathematical abilities and reading comprehension skills
- Improves your coordination
- Can open up other doors for you in the future like play professionally or be in a band
Where are The Lessons Run?
We hold lessons in a few primary schools around Brisbane, at our studio in Ashgrove, Brisbane, and also conveniently in your own home – which is great if you want to save time driving around!
You can also have lessons over the internet! If you have a good internet connection, we can now do lessons over Skype or Facetime.
Please click here for more information about lesson locations.
How Many Students Can Attend?
We believe that private 1-on-1 lessons are always best for faster progress. This enables our teacher to work solely with your child (or you!) and tailor the lesson plans to suit your needs.
However, it can be fun to learn with a friend. If you are starting piano and you have a friend (of the same age/level), paired lessons are an option.
We also hold group classes, for learning music theory and percussion (such as drums, xylophones etc). Up to 6 children can attend these classes and learn together.
How Much Does it Cost?
Your investment in your piano education varies depending on the duration of lessons. The longer the lesson, the faster your child will progress (depending on how much they practice at home, too!). For example, a child who is doing 40 minute lessons will progress faster than a child of the same age who is doing 20 minute lessons.
