Jazz up your music talents with saxophone lessons from the Young Musicians’ Academy.
What You Will Learn
The saxophone (or the sax) is a powerful woodwind instrument—that means you play it with your mouth, and your breathing is a huge part of how good a saxophone sounds. At the Young Musicians’ Academy, our experienced teachers will help you master the sax, including how to control your breath, the right way to hold a saxophone, embouchure (mouth and lip) technique and music theory.
How Our Saxophone Lessons are Different
Don’t the jazzy tones of the saxophone just make you want to dance and have fun? That’s exactly what you’ll get at the Young Musicians’ Academy. Sure, learning how to play an instrument takes dedication and hard work, but there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t enjoy the whole process!
Who Is It Ideal For?
The Young Musicians’ Academy has lessons that are suited to both adults and children, beginners and experienced players. Have a look at our lessons and choose the one that’s right for you:
- The Standard of Excellence—for beginner students aged 8-12
- The Standard of Excellence and Supplementary Materials—for teenage and adult beginners
If you also enjoying singing, why not take vocal lessons as well? You’ll improve your understanding of tone and notes, develop better control of your breathing and round yourself out as a musician.
What Are the Benefits for You?
The saxophone is becoming more and more popular by the second, especially in pop music. But no matter which genre of music you’ll want to play your saxophone in, you’ll also learn some valuable life skills you can take with you anywhere:
- Better posture and confidence
- Strong control of your speaking and singing voice
- A can-do attitude for any challenge
Where Are the Lessons Run?
You can take saxophone lessons at our studio in Ashgrove, Brisbane, or come by for lessons at any of the Brisbane primary schools on this list.
We also offer at-home lessons if you prefer, or if you have a strong Internet connection, you can choose to have lessons over Skype or Facebook.
How Many Students Can Attend?
In most cases, 1-on-1 lessons give you the most benefit in the shortest amount of time. However, if you do have a friend at the same level as you, we may be able to offer you paired lessons. Ask us for more details if you’re interested.
If you like to be a part of the crowd while learning, we have music theory and percussions available in group lessons.
How Much Does It Cost?
As with anything, the more time you put towards learning a new instrument, the faster you can master it. But we know it’s not always possible to take as many lessons as we want, so we’ve created tiered pricing plans designed especially for our students to get the most value possible. Have a look at our pricing list.
