Hit the right notes with fun, no-stress professional vocal skill building at the Young Musicians’ Academy
There’s a lot to love about singing, and plenty of benefits to it too. Singing/vocal lessons can teach you how to stand taller, speak with more confidence and really project yourself into a room. Best of all, you can take these skills with you everywhere!
What You Will Learn
The most important thing you’ll take away from singing/vocal lessons is a more musical ear. Before you know it, you’ll be able to recognize individual notes, types of pitches and when someone is singing out of key (ouch!).
You’ll also learn about dynamic markings (how soft a note should be sung), breath markings, microphone technique and how to pick out songs that fit your natural voice the best. You’ll also spend some time working on vocalisation and performance.
How Our Vocal Lessons are Different
Did you know that before we had the written word, our ancestors used song and dance to tell stories and record their history?
Singing is a powerful way to tell your own story, and we can help you become your best self at it. Everyone at the Young Musicians Academy shares a passion for music in all forms, and we have a very strict policy about having fun while teaching and making every lesson enjoyable for students.
Who Is It Ideal For?
We have lessons and courses that fit your age and experience level, and you can start right from the age of 5 years old! If you want to start singing lessons or brush up on your skills, our lessons are ideal for anyone who wants to learn:
- AMEB Technical Exercises & Supplementary Exercises
- Tongue Twisters, Canons & articulation exercises
- Learn to sings pop songs and your favourite songs!
If you want to learn an instrument alongside your singing lessons, we have many courses that are designed for novices and experienced musicians alike. Master the piano, cello, saxophone or drums (or other instruments) and delight your friends with your one-person-band performances.
What Are the Benefits for You?
Singing is not just great for stage presence, it’s great for everyday life. Here’s what we mean by that:
- Boost your self-confidence and self-esteem
- Give better presentations by speaking clearly
- Impress everyone with your posture
- Beat your friends at Karaoke
- Get yourself on the road to becoming a professional singer
Where Are the Lessons Run?
You can find us teaching in a few Brisbane primary schools or out of our studio in Ashgrove, Brisbane. View a complete list of lesson locations.
We also offer at-home lessons if you can’t make it out or better yet, over Skype or Facetime! That’s right, if you have a good Internet connection, we can go over vocal lessons online and in real-time. Now doesn’t that make you want to sing?
How Many Students Can Attend?
If you want to get the most of our vocal lessons, we recommend a 1-on-1 approach so that we can focus on helping you improve your singing in the quickest way possible. That way, we can tweak the lesson plans to fit you, not the other way around.
But if you would like to learn how to sing with a friend who’s at about the same level as you are, you can ask for paired lessons and see if that’s an available option.
If you’re interested in music theory and percussions as well, you can attend group classes to learn with other music lovers.
How Much Does It Cost?
We understand that it’s not always possible to take as many lessons as you want. Obviously, the more you learn and practice, the quicker you can master a skillset.
Have a look at our lesson pricing page to get an idea of how our courses are tiered for maximum benefit to you.
