Don’t fiddle with your music education. Become a great violin performer at the Young Musicians’ Academy
The violin is an instrument that’s more than 500 years old, and it has a lot of history and tradition to show for it. You can hear violins in plenty of music genres: Baroque, bluegrass, country, folk, rock’n’roll, jazz and classical. So no matter which music genre you enjoy, chances are there’s a part in it that can be played by a violinist.
What You Will Learn
The violin is not an easy instrument to master—but for those who put in the time, it’s an incredibly rewarding musical experience. You’ll learn how to recognise the right pitch (as there are no frets on a violin!), how to play it the right way to avoid fatigue or injury, and how to give a performance that’ll have your audience standing and clapping in no time.
You’ll also learn how to read music and the music theory required to correctly play the violin. But the most important lesson you’ll take away is that putting in the effort gets you results. If you’re someone who likes instant gratification, be prepared to learn patience while you’re learning to play the violin!
How Our Violin Lessons are Different
The violin requires hard work, coordination and the right attitude…which is exactly what our professional music teachers have in spades.
We’ve found that best way to learn a new instrument is to enjoy learning a new instrument. So all of our lessons at the Young Musicians Academy include fun (but educational) activities for kids that teach them the right skills to become talented musicians.
Who Is It Ideal For?
Anyone can learn to play the violin, even children as young as four years of age! Our lessons and courses are designed for every age or experience level as follows:
- The Encore on Strings for Violin—for beginner students aged 4-12
- The Encore on Strings for Violin & Supplementary Material—for teenage and adult beginners
While you’re mastering the violin, why not take some singing lessons too? If you’re interested in becoming a recording artist or compositing your own music, having a solid understand of vocal abilities can give you the edge you need to stand out.
What Are the Benefits for You?
After your violin lessons at the Young Musicians Academy, you’ll not only see an improvement in your musical ability, you’ll also notice some changes in your everyday life.
- Better posture and stage presence—great for when you need to give a presentation
- Improved finger dexterity, so you can beat your friends at any video game
- A deeper sense of responsibility and can-do attitude
Where Are the Lessons Run?
You can take violin lessons at the Young Musicians Academy studio in Ashgrove, Brisbane or come to one of our Brisbane primary schools locations. You can view a complete list of lesson locations here.
Can’t make it out for your lessons? You can opt for our at-home violin lessons package or sign up for Skype or Facetime. You read that right! If you have a reliable Internet connection, we can give you lessons online. Doesn’t that make you want to play a jig on your violin?
How Many Students Can Attend?
Usually, we recommend 1-on-1 lessons for the best results. The violin is an instrument that requires a lot of concentration and dedication. However, if you’d like to partner with a friend who is at the same level as you are, please feel free to chat with one of our instructors and see if that’s an option for you.
For music theory and percussion, we offer group classes.
How Much Does It Cost?
Of course, the more you practice, the faster you can master an instrument—but we know it’s not always possible to take as many lessons as you’d like. Please review our lessons pricing page to understand how our tiered pricing is designed to give you maximum benefit.
